Edith Bailey


Edith Gray Bailey, 91, of Greenup, Kentucky went to be with the Lord, Saturday, October 1, 2016 at her home. Edith was born February 19, 1925 in Magoffin County, Kentucky a daughter of the late Francis Marion and Esther Reed Vanover. Edith was a member of the Greenup Presbyterian Church and a 50 year member of the Eastern Star, Greenup Electa #3. She was owner and operator of the former Bailey’s Jewelry Store in Greenup for 35 years with her husband Estle. She was one of the founders of the Greenup Old Fashioned Days Festival. She was a volunteer for the American Red Cross and had served on a disaster relief team, was one of the founders of the Greenup County Habitat for Humanity Greenup County. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her Husband Estle Louis Bailey 4 brothers Amos Vanover Everett Vanover Dawson Vanover Emmons Vanover 2 sisters Elsie Rice Una Mae Reed She is survived by 1 daughter Mary Alice Bailey of Greenup, Kentucky 1 son Francis Louis (Linda) Bailey of Lexington, Kentucky 2 grandchildren Melody (Rod) Sanders of Flemingsburg, Kentucky Kelly (Matthew) Cline of Ashland, Kentucky 1 great-grandson Matthew (Jessica) Columbus of Las Vegas, Nevada Several nieces and nephews and many extended family and friends Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 pm Thursday, October 6, 2016 At Reed Funeral Home in Greenup by Rev. Jack Edwards. Burial will be in the Sunset Cemetery in Greenup. Visitation will be Wednesday 6:00 – 8:00 pm and one hour before the service on Thursday.
