Bessie Darlene McBrayer

Bessie Darlene McBrayer, 80, of Greenup, Kentucky went to be with the Lord on Monday February 12, 2018 at Community Hospice Care Center in Ashland, Kentucky surrounded by her family who loved her dearly. Mrs. McBrayer was born in Pike County, Kentucky on May 4, 1937 a daughter of the late Thurman and Gracie Spencer Carter. She was a member of Oak Street Chapel in Flatwoods, Kentucky for many years. She loved to work jigsaw puzzles and enjoyed watching red birds.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Gene McBrayer; one daughter Vonda McBrayer Kelly; One son Darrell McBrayer; two grandsons Phillip Force and Adam Force; two granddaughters Wilma Archey and Abby Archey; and one great-great granddaughter Jensyn Archey; four brothers Raymond Carter, Lee Carter, Junior Carter, and Okie Carter; two sisters Edna Thacker and Eunice Thomas.

She is survived by

one daughter Sherry (Lester) Archey of Greenup, Kentucky

three sisters Opal Gottschalk of Mansfield, Ohio Janet (Stanton) Miller of Greenup, Kentucky Violet Patton of Estero, Florida

a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren

Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 pm on Thursday February 15, 2018 at Reed Funeral Home in Greenup, Kentucky by Pastor Johnsey Collins. Burial will be in McBrayer Cemetery in Greenup, Kentucky. Visitation will be from 11:00 am until service time on Thursday. Condolences may be made at rlfuneralhome.com
