David Slone
David Slone, 85, of Greenup, Kentucky went home to be with the Lord Sunday, September 2, 2018 surrounded by his loving family. David was born November 24, 1932 in Elliott County, Kentucky a son of the late John Willie and Sarah Jane Boggs Slone. He was retired from Ashland Electric. After his retirement he became a fulltime farmer. He loved going out to his farm and sharing his secrets of farming. He was a proud member of the Greenup Lions Club for 30 plus years and was a member of the Presbyterian Church in Greenup. He was a United States Korean Conflict Navy Veteran. He was an avid University of Kentucky Wildcat and Cincinnati Reds fan. David was a loving father, husband, grandfather and a friend. He was a very humble man who loved God very much and served him faithfully for 20 years. He was loved by many and will be missed by all. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by 1 son

Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 am Wednesday, September 5, 2018 at Reed Funeral Home in Greenup by Rev. Jack Edwards and Pastor Michael Justice. Burial will be in the Kentucky Veterans Cemetery North East. Military rites will be preformed by Marine Corps League Greenbo Detachment #1345. Visitation will be from 6:00 – 8:00 pm Tuesday and one hour before the service on Wednesday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Community Hospice 1480 Carter Ave., Ashland, Kentucky 41101 or ALS Association Kentucky Chapter, 8640 Haines Drive, Florence, Kentucky 41042 in memory of his son Ray Slone.
