Jerry Stephens

Jerry Stephens passed away March 1, 2019 in Crestwood, Kentucky surrounded by his loving family. Jerry was born on August 16, 1940 in Greenup County, Kentucky a son of the late John and Sallie Minnie Marie Artist Stephens; one daughter Bobbi Jean Stephens; and infant son John Raymond Stephens. Jerry worked throughout his life as an Iron Worker and was a member of Cincinnati Iron Workers Local 44. As an Iron Worker he worked building nuclear submarines at Newport News Shipyard in Newport News, Virginia and traveled for work extensively building power plants, bridges and skyscrapers across America before retiring in Greenup County, Kentucky, the place he dearly loved. He is survived by daughter Bonnie Lee (Stephen Merle) Kilgore of Nashville, Tennessee, son Charles Lewis (Kay) Stephens of Hillsboro, North Carolina, daughters Kellie Marie Stephens of Crestwood, Kentucky, and Deanna (Bryan) Stephens Vidal of Springfield, Virginia; ten grandchildren: Mandy (Robert) Barnes, Jess Lewis Stephen (Bridget) Maiden, Elijah Stephens Andrews, Sallie Jessica Maiden, John Donald Stephens, Ruth Stephens, Bryson Vidal, Kayla Marie Stephens, Braxtin Korfhage, and Braylin Korfhage; six great-grandchildren: Jaylin Anna Marie Maiden Scott, Cheyenne Alisa Lee Ann Maiden, Melania Jolene Maiden, Bobby Ray Webb, J. R. Barnes, and Marilyn Barnes; and two great-great-grandchildren: Melanie and Anna Belle. He is survived by his sister Jaunda Lee Stephens Owens; niece Janne Bryant; great nieces Tiffany Toms and Jennifer Winters (Deceased); great nieces Zoey, Madison, McKenna, and Charley; and many other beloved family members and friends who will miss him dearly. Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 pm on Wednesday March 6, 2019 at Reed Funeral Home in Greenup, Kentucky. Visitation will be Tuesday from 6:00-8:00 pm at the funeral home and one hour before the service on Wednesday. Burial will be in Plum Grove Cemetery in Greenup, Kentucky.
