Homer Ishmael Woods

Homer Ishmael Woods, 82, of Greenup, Kentucky passed away Friday, August 2, 2019 at Our Lady of Bellefonte Hospital in Russell, Kentucky surrounded by his loving family.

Homer was born February 9, 1937 in Greenup, Kentucky a son of the late Homer and Essie Sturgill Woods. He was a retired construction worker. Homer was also a farmer.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife of 37 years Barbara Walker Woods, two brothers Cecil woods and Harold Woods, one sister Shirley Tripett, one great granddaughter Madison Gollahue and one son-in-law John Baker.

He is survived by

one son Homer “Jay” (Sharon) Woods Jr. of Catlettsburg, Kentucky

four daughters Cheryl Baker of Greenup, Kentucky Pam (Greg) Justice of Greenup, Kentucky Norma Gizzi of Greenup, Kentucky Patty (Keith) Dixon of Ashland, Kentucky

four brothers Gary (Judy) Woods of Wurtland, Kentucky Floyd (Carmel) Woods of Chillicothe, Ohio John (Susan) Woods of Florida Norman (Kim) Woods of Raceland, Kentucky

two sisters Rose (David) Edwards of Worthington, Kentucky Nora Woods of Flatwoods

two sister-in-laws Joyce woods of Greenup Darlene Woods of Wurtland, Kentucky

one brother-in-law Ray Tripett of Greenup, Kentucky

twelve grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren

Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 pm Wednesday, August 7, 2019 at Reed Funeral Home in Greenup, Kentucky by Pastor Tim French. Burial will be in the Brick Union Cemetery in Lloyd, Kentucky. Visitation will be from 6:00 – 8:00 pm Tuesday at the funeral home and one hour before the service on Wednesday. Condolences may be made at www.rlrfuneralhome.com.
