Ada Hurst

Ada Prater Hurst, 91, of Greenup County, KY went to be with the lord on Thursday June 16, 2022.

Ada was born February 26, 1931, in Floyd County Kentucky, to Lee Henry and Martha Prater, she was one of nine children. She was preceded in death by her husband, of 50 years, Cecil W. Hurst Sr and son Cecil W. Hurst Jr. Also, by two grandchildren Dwayne M. Hurst and Jason D. Hurst. She is survived by her children Brenda Kay Truitt, William (Elizabeth) Hurst, Ina Chapman, Kenneth Hurst, Opal Hurst, Wayne Hurst, Rebecca (Jimmy) Baker, and daughter-in law Lawanna Hurst, all of Greenup County, KY. She has 21 grandchildren, 48 great grandchildren and 13 great-great grandchildren.

Ada and Cecil raised 8 Beautiful children of their own and stepped into be mom and dad to several other over the years. Ada loved her family and never met a stranger; her door was always open. She loved gardening, canning, quilting, working puzzles and Sunday dinners with her family. She was always talking about the babies. She leaves behind a large loving family.

Mom, Momma, Mamaw, Mammy, Little Granny will be deeply missed. She lived a long healthy life. She’s with God now and all the family that’s passed before. She’s in Good hands.

Funeral service will be conducted at 1:00 pm on Saturday, June 18, 2022, at Reed Funeral Home in Greenup by Pastor Kenneth Martin III. Burial will be in Hurst Cemetery in Lloyd, Kentucky.
