Charles William Kitchen

Charles William Kitchen, 83, of Greenup, Kentucky, passed away, Thursday, November 21, 2024, at Community Hospice Care Center in Ashland, Kentucky surrounded by his family who he loved dearly. Charles was born March 31, 1941, in Raceland, Kentucky, a son of the late Wayne Curtis Kitchen and Ruth Pierce Kitchen Byers. Charles was a 1961 graduate of the former Wurtland High School and was a retired Engineer from CSX Railroad. He was a former president of Brotherhood of Locomotive of Engineers Local #271 and enjoyed going to the flea market on the weekends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his stepfather Ivan “Cotton” Byers; a brother Harold Curtis Kitchen and a sister Sandra Sue Brinegar.

He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years Carol Sue Prince Kitchen; two sons Charles Ray (Julie) Kitchen of Argillite, Kentucky and William Keith (Sheri) Kitchen of Russell, Kentucky; six grandchildren Matthew (Nikki) Kitchen, Tara (J.D.) Adams, Shannon Kitchen, Shelby (Luke) Sanders, Justin Kitchen, and Levi Kitchen; six great-grandchildren Laela, Shayleigh, Zoey, Kennedy, Cooper and Barrett; several nieces and nephews and many friends who will miss him dearly.

Funeral services will be conductedat 1:00pm, Monday, November 25, 2024, at Reed Funeral Home by Minister David Webb.  Burial will be in the Pierce Cemetery in Argillite.
