Curtis Gene Terry
Curtis Gene Terry, 82, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, November 9, 2024, surrounded by his loving family at King’s Daughters’ Medical Center in Ashland, Kentucky.
A beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, he leaves behind a legacy of love, loyalty, and sacrifice. Curtis was born May 29, 1942, in Elliott County, Kentucky, a son of the late Allen Mander and Mary Charlotte Salyers Terry. Curtis was also preceded in death by his siblings Charles Terry, James Terry, Ocal Terry, Edith Harmon, Betty Justice, and Chillis (Jr.) Terry.
He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years Beverly Russell Terry. Together, they built a beautiful family that surrounded them with love and care. He is also survived by a daughter Shelly Caruthers of Paradise, Texas; two sons Michael David Terry of Frankin Furnace, Ohio and Gene Terry (Vanessa) of Springtown, Texas: an adopted daughter, Stormie Rousselow of Franklin Furnace, Ohio. He was a proud “Pap” to 8 grandchildren Ashley, Laura, Leah, Michael, Terry (Bud), Allison, Gabby, and Curtis; and a doting great-grandfather to 6 great-grandchildren: Cade, Mason, Branden, Paul, Presley, and Cameron; his dog and little shadow, “Baby”; a host of nieces, nephews and special friends. The family also acknowledges the special bond he had with Stormie, the youngest member of the family, who brought joy and laughter to his life. Curt was a 1961 graduate of Rock Hill High School and was a member of Franklin Furnace Independent Baptist Church. He was a man who valued God and his family above all else. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him, but the lessons he taught, the jokes he told, the songs he sang, and the love he gave will never be forgotten.
A graveside service will be held at 1:00pm, Tuesday, November 12, 2024, at Haverhill Cemetery, in Franklin Furnace, Ohio, by Pastor Dr. Dennis Hankins. Visitation will be from 10:00am to 12:00pm on Tuesday at Reed Funeral Home in Greenup. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Franklin Furnace Independent Baptist Church.
