Donald Gene Houston

Donald Gene Houston, 73, of Greenup, Kentucky, went home to be with the Lord, Sunday, February 19, 2023, at Community Hospice Care Center. Donald was born August 30, 1949, in Ontario, California, a son of the late Neva Lane (Bill) Tackett.

He was a member of Living Waters Worship Center in Ashland, Kentucky and was a United States Army Veteran. He was an avid University of Kentucky Fan. He loved to fish and to spend time with his family and grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by and infant son Christopher Houston and a brother Ronnie Houston.

He is survived by his daughter Renae Weddington of Flatwoods; two granddaughters Mallory (Max Chernyshev) Carpenter and Avery Carpenter; a sister Brenda (Herman) Salyers of Argillite, Kentucky; a sister-in-law Connie Grubb Houston of Argillite, Kentucky; his faithful friend “Lucy”; a host of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11:30 am Thursday, February 23, 2023 at Reed Funeral Home in Greenup by Pastor Tim French. Burial will be in the Kentucky Veterans Cemetery North East, Greenup, Kentucky. Military rites will be performed by Lt. Colonel Vance Houston Detachment #1345.
