James Henry Burton

James Henry Burton, 69, of Greenup, Kentucky went to be with the Lord, Monday, December 9, 2024, at Wurtland Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Wurtland, Kentucky surrounded by his loving family. James was born February 14, 1955, in Ironton, Ohio a son of the late Ernest Henry and Dora Belle Young Burton. He was a 1974 graduate of the former Wurtland High School and graduated from Ashland Vocational School with a machinist degree. He was a member of Hampshire Enterprise Baptist Church in Lynn, Kentucky and loved the Lord dearly. He enjoyed boxing and competed in the Golden Gloves competition when he was a young man. He loved woodworking and carving. Jim dearly loved his family and spending time with his two grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Polly Napier Burton who passed away exactly 28 years ago to the day of James passing; four brothers Homer Burton, Roy Burton, Milton McGuire, and Troy Burton; and one sister Sybil Conley.

He is survived by one daughter Kelly (Bobbie) Dalton of Oldtown, Kentucky; three brothers Lawrence (Viola) Burton of Load, Kentucky, Ezra (Darlene) Burton of Load, Kentucky, and Ernest David (Loretta) Burton of Argillite, Kentucky; five sisters Arlene (Charles) Damron of Catlettsburg, Kentucky, Judy Bohannah of Wheelersburg, Ohio, Mary Collier of Load, Kentucky, Eldean Bailey of Load, Kentucky, and Freda (Steve) Miller of Load, Kentucky; two grandchildren Polly Anna Dalton and Brandon Eugene Dalton; and a host of nieces and nephews who will all miss him dearly.

Memorial service will be held at 12:00 pm on Friday December 13, 2024 at Eureka Enterprise Baptist Church in York, Kentucky. Reed Funeral Home in Greenup, Kentucky has been entrusted with arrangements. Online Condolences may be made at www.rlrfuneralhome.com.
