Jerry Matthew Cassidy
Jerry Matthew Cassidy, 71, of South Shore, Kentucky, went home to be with the Lord, Saturday, April 6, 2024, at Ohio State Medical Center in Columbus, Ohio surrounded by his loving family. Jerry was born April 4, 1953, in Garrison, Kentucky a son of the late Charles and Gladaline Jordan Cassidy. He retired after 31 years as chief of police for the city of South Shore, Kentucky and also retired as a Greenup County Sheriff Deputy with 15 years of service. Jerry worked on old tractors and loved mechanics. He loved to mow grass and helping family and friends. Jerry had such a big heart. He especially loved spending time with family, grandkids, and great grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers Fred Cassidy, Ronnie Cassidy and Johnny Cassidy.
He is survived by two daughters Sherry Travis of McDermott, Ohio and Sharline and her husband Robert Senters, who he considered a son, of South Shore, Kentucky; four brothers Virgil Cassidy of South Shore, Kentucky, Jimmy Cassidy of Vanceburg, Kentucky, Danny (Darlene) Cassidy of Scioto Co., Ohio, and Homer (Bernice) Cassidy of Portsmouth, Ohio; one sister Dixie Ilene Cassidy of South Shore, Kentucky; two grandchildren Brooke (Blake) Thompson and John Travis; three great grandchildren Rowan, Wes, and Olivia; a special friend John Meadows of South Shore, Kentucky; a host of nieces, nephews and friends who will miss him dearly.
Funeral service will be conducted at 1:00 pm on Wednesday, April 10, 2024, at Reed Funeral Home in Greenup, Kentucky by Pastor Anthony Rister. Burial will be in Spy Run Cemetery in Vanceburg, Kentucky. Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00 pm on Tuesday and one hour before the service on Wednesday at the funeral home.
