Jo Ann Nelson Brown

Jo Ann Nelson Brown, 76, of Greenup, Kentucky, passed away, Thursday, July 20, 2023, at Southern Ohio Hospice Center in Portsmouth, Ohio. Jo Ann was born May 5, 1947, in Greenup County, Kentucky, a daughter of the late Charles and Rachel Collier Nelson.

Jo Ann was a former custodian for 16 years at Greysbranch Elementary School in Lloyd, Kentucky. She loved her grandchildren dearly and her favorite thing to do was spending time with them. She enjoyed working in her flowers, drinking Pepsi Cola, and watching baseball.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband John W. Brown; a brother Billy Gene Sparks and a sister Mary Hamilton.

She is survived by two sons Johnny Charles (Allison) Brown of Flatwoods, Kentucky, and Jeffery Wade (Jennifer) Brown of Wheelersburg, Ohio; a daughter Angela Brown (Dennis) Conley of Argillite, Kentucky; one sister Loretta Davis of Vanceburg, Kentucky; four grandchildren Summer Brown (Ryan) Bush, Ashley Brown, Gabriel (Gabe) Gipson and Alyssa Brown; two great-grandchildren Skyler Brown Morris and Brydan Bush; a host of nieces and nephews.

Funeral service will be conducted at 11:00am Tuesday, July 25, 2023, at Reed Funeral Home in Greenup by Pastor Brian Holbrook. Burial will be in the Collier Cemetery in South Portsmouth, Kentucky. Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00pm Monday and one hour before the service on Tuesday at the funeral home.
