John Mann
John Mann, 80, of Greenup, Kentucky passed away peacefully Tuesday, December 14, 2021, at Community Hospice Care Center in Ashland, Kentucky. John was born July 7, 1941, in Breathitt County, Kentucky a son of the late Glinn and Wanda Collins Mann. John graduated from McKell High School in 1959 and earned his bachelor’s and master’s degrees at Morehead State University. He completed Rank I certification at Xavier University. John retired from the Kenton County Schools as principal of the James A. Caywood Elementary School in 1994. He was actively involved in the state and national elementary principals’ organizations. He also served eleven years on the Independence, Kentucky City Council and felt great pride in the growth and development of the city. Upon returning home to Greenup County to farm, he became active in Farm Bureau, Conservation, and the Liberty United Methodist Church in Lynn, Kentucky. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother Dennis Ray Mann. He is survived by his wife of 58 years Elizabeth Dupuy Mann; three sisters Claudine Craycraft of South Shore, Kentucky, Lois (Carlos) Wright of Georgia, and Faye (Dale) Heller of Tennessee; one brother James D. Mann of Morehead, Kentucky; his adored nieces and nephews; and one uncle. A memorial service will be held at a later date. Reed Funeral Home in Greenup, Kentucky is entrusted with arrangements.
