Jonathan “Jon” Taylor
Jonathan “Jon” Taylor, 55, of Wurtland, Kentucky, went home to be with the Lord, Friday, February 16, 2024, at his home surrounded by his loving family. Jon was born June 11, 1968, in Ashland, Kentucky, a son of the late Charles and Katherine Gillespie Taylor. Jon was a 1986 graduate of Greenup County High School. Bluegrass music was Jon’s passion. He loved going to Bluegrass festivals and talking with the bands. If you ever heard the beating of a bass guitar or the strumming of a banjo, it was more than likely coming from his tuck, garage, or golf cart. Jon was an electrician by trade and was admired by inspectors for his perfection in his work. Jon changed hobbies over the years, starting with small tractors to golf carts, repurposing them to his own imagination. Jon had wonderful friends throughout his life. The boys he grew up with formed a special club called the Wurtland Mafia, they were not really mafia just good boys from Wurtland. They even had shirts made. Jon was a good friend. If you needed help with something, Jon was the one to call. Jon will be greatly missed by his family and all the friends he has met along his life’s journey.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister Anita Warner and a nephew Norman Woods.
He is survived by his loving wife of 26 years, Lisa Schmidt Taylor; a son Joshua Taylor of Lucasville, Ohio; a daughter Nicole (Brian Buckle) Taylor of Lucasville, Ohio; two brothers Charles “Eddie” (Ann) Taylor of Wurtland, Kentucky and Randall (Pam) Taylor of Raceland, Kentucky; a sister Kimberly Morgan of Wurtland, Kentucky; a grandson Silas David Taylor of Russell, Kentucky; one niece Sara Spriggs (Michael); nephews Brandon (Kristen) Schultz, Kara Todd Estep all of Greenup, Kentucky; several great nieces and nephews, cousins, extended family and many great friends; and his sidekick and fur baby “Gigi”.
