Landon Fitzwater

Landon Fitzwater, 85, of Greenup, Kentucky, passed away, Sunday, February 11, 2024, at Community Hospice Care Center in Ashland, Kentucky. Landon was born May 15, 1938, in Greenup, Kentucky, a son of the late William Edward Fitzwater and Willa Ann Robinson Fitzwater. He was a retired blacksmith from CSX Railroad. He loved farming, mowing grass, and especially loved his garden. He was often referred to as the “Mayor” of Smith Branch Road. He dearly loved his family and spending time with all his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He will be greatly missed by his family, friends and all who knew him.


In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Jalana Reed Fitzwater; two daughters Vicky A. Hunt and Tammy R. Fitzwater; a granddaughter Amanda Adams; three brothers Delbert Fitzwater, Leonard Fitzwater, and William “Eddie” Fitzwater; three sisters Juanita Grubb, Geraldine Hale, and Mildred Carr.


He is survived by two daughters Penny (Burtice) Hunt and Crystal (Aaron) Walker both of Greenup, Kentucky; nine grandchildren Jeremy (June) Hunt, Willard Hunt, Landon (Brian) Hunt, Ashley (Tommy Buckler) Hunt, Bradley (Alisha Cornwell) Hunt, Charlie (Jordan) Wise, Chelsy (William) Potter, Chansy Wise, and Austin Walker; fifteen great-grandchildren Dominic, Jordan, Awsten, Skyler, Shaylynn, Jarid, Aubree, Aisley, Remington, Liam, Ruger, Oscar, Paisley, Laney, and Hunter; and a host of nieces and nephews.


Funeral service will be conducted at 1:00 pm, Friday. February 16, 2024, at Reed Funeral Home in Greenup, Kentucky by Minister Scott Robinson. Burial will be in Brick Union Cemetery, Lloyd, Kentucky. Visitation will be from 11:00am until service time on Friday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers the family has requested donations be made towards funeral expenses.
