Leonard Eugene "Gene" Darby

Leonard Eugene "Gene" Darby, 87, of Argillite, Kentucky passed away Monday, October 11, 2021 at Kings Daughters Medical Center in Ashland Kentucky. Mr. Darby was born September 4, 1934, in Winding Gulf West Virginia, a son of the late Leonard Darby and Mary Stewart Darby Nelson. He was a United States Army veteran.

He was preceded in death by his parents, the mother of his children, Hilde Darby, and former wives Mary Darby and Faye Darby and a grandson, Kevin Kintigos.

He is survived by his wife Doris Rice Darby

Wilfred (Lona) Gene Darby of Greenup, Kentucky

One daughter

Linda (Jan Powell) Kay Darnell of Frederiksted, St Croix, US Virgin Islands

Two sisters Betty Baird of West Virginia Nancy Lake of Berea, Kentucky

Grand children Amanda (Branden) Whitt and Joshua (Olivia) Darnell

Great grandchildren

Matthew, Luke, Lincoln, Ashton, Shaylah, Hayden, and Jhace

Gene retired from E.I. DuPont in Wurtland. He was a carpenter and a farmer. He will be missed by his extended family and friends.

Funeral service will be conducted at 1:00 pm on Friday, October 15, 2021 at Reed Funeral Home and Greenup Kentucky by Bro. James Harris. Burial will be in Plum Grove cemetery in Greenup. Visitation will be from 11 AM until service time on Friday. PER FAMILY REQUEST, MASKS ARE RECOMMENDED.
