Michael “Mike” Dennis Benner

Michael “Mike” Dennis Benner, 63, of Portsmouth, Ohio went to be with the Lord on Friday, December 6, 2024, at SOMC Hospice in Portsmouth, Ohio. Michael was born February 18, 1961, in Los Angeles, California, a son of the late Raymond and Shelby Roush Benner.

Mike was a 1980 graduate of Portsmouth High School and was a member of Portsmouth Baptist Church and Painters Local 555. Mike enjoyed fishing, spending time with his grandchildren, and was a very devoted father. He was an avid fan of the Cincinnati Reds and Ohio State, he also admired John Wayne and often considered himself "The Duke."

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by grandparents George and Belva McCannon Roush; stepson Chad Bennett; one sister Ginger Ray Benner; two brothers Anthony Benner and Randy Benner; one nephew Ryan Douglas Adams; and two beloved aunts Sharon Aldridge and Debbie Collins; two uncles John Roush and George Roush.

He is survived by two sons Michael (Christina) Benner of Portsmouth, Ohio and Dalton Benner of Portsmouth, Ohio; two daughters Lacey Benner of Portsmouth, Ohio and Amanda Benner of Frankfort, Kentucky; stepson Chance (Lindsey) Bennett of Portsmouth, Ohio; three sisters Tammy (Gerald) Covert of Logan, Ohio, Kelly (Doug) Adams of Portsmouth, Ohio, and Lori (Greg) Schnider of Portsmouth, Ohio; ten grandchildren; one uncle Larry (Aggie) Roush of Minford, Ohio; nephew Jason, who he had a special bond with; and a host of nieces and nephews who will all miss him dearly.

Mike will be laid to rest at 3:00 pm on December 28, 2024, at South Webster Cemetery in South Webster, Ohio. A celebration of life will follow at Clay Community Center (107 North Arrowhead, Portsmouth, Ohio). Reed Funeral Home in Greenup, Kentucky has been entrusted with arrangements.
