Mitchell Todd Christian



Mitchell Todd Christian, 60, of Ashland, Kentucky, formerly of Raceland, Kentucky, went home to be with the Lord at Community Hospice Care Center in Ashland, Kentucky surrounded by his family who loved him dearly.


Mitch was born February 6, 1963 in Ashland, Kentucky, a son of the late Jack Henry and Myrna Gail McCallister Christian.


He is survived by his loving wife of 37 years Debbie Greathouse Christian; a son Jeremy Christian and his wife Ginger of Ocean Springs, Mississippi; a daughter Ayla Christian and her husband David Chaltas of Ashland, Kentucky; grandchildren Lucius, Daisy, Andrea, Isaac and Boone; two brothers Brian Christian of Raceland, Kentucky and Gordon Christian and his wife Joan of Worthington, Kentucky; and a sister Jennifer Christian of Chapin, South Carolina; as well as of a host of nieces and nephews.


Mitch adored his grandchildren and his best times were spent enjoying them. He was a 1981 graduate of Raceland High School. Mitch enjoyed running track and playing football for the Raceland Rams, and is anticipated to be inducted in the Raceland High School Football Hall of Fame in the Fall of 2023.


Mitch retired from the Ashland Fire Department as a Battalion Chief after 25 years of service in August 2020. He is mourned by his department who have been unwavering in their support.


Funeral service will be conducted at 3:00 pm on Thursday, April 13th at the Ashland Central Fire Station located at 1021 Central Ave. Ashland, Kentucky by Pastor Shane Cox. Visitation will be held from 1:00 pm until funeral time. Reed Funeral Home in Greenup, Kentucky is in charge of arrangements. Condolences may be made at www.rlrfuneralhome.com.


In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be sent to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or Ashland Community Hospice Care Center.
