Penny Sue Burton

Penny Sue Burton, 66, of Grayson, Kentucky went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, December 10, 2024, at Community Hospice Care Center in Ashland, Kentucky. She was born March 5, 1958, in Elgin, Illinois, a daughter of the late Charles and Delores Hanes Brown. Penny attended Russell High School and was a former employee of the Ashland School System as a bus driver. She was a devoted Christian and attended The House of Grace.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her father-in-law George Burton.

She is survived by her husband of 37 years Delbert Burton; one son Steve (Amanda) Schmidt of Russell, Kentucky; one daughter Carolyn (Chris) Stapleton of Pickerington, Ohio; one brother Steve Ratcliff; one sister Judy (Tyler) Marchese; stepson Michael Cooke; grandchildren Alexis Nichols, Brayden and Eva Schmidt, Austin, Hailey, Brian,(Danni) Stapleton, Cam Bryan, and Max Bryan; great grandchild Silas Stapleton; mother in law Geneva Burton; two sister in laws Brenda (Bill) Thompson and Linda (Charlie) Goddard; one brother in law John Burton; special sissy Brenda (Bill) Lynch; several nieces and nephews; and two fur babies Abby and Daphne.

Graveside service will be held at 1:00 pm on Friday December 13, 2024, at Kentucky Veterans Cemetery North East in Greenup, Kentucky by Minister Charlie Scott. Reed Funeral Home in Greenup, Kentucky has been entrusted with arrangements. Online condolences may be made at www.rlrfuneralhome.com.
