Roy Gale Virgin

Roy Gale Virgin, 77, of Greenup, Kentucky, passed away on Thursday, August 15, 2024, at the Community Hospice Care Center in Ashland, Kentucky, surrounded by his loving family. Born on October 6, 1946, in Argillite, Gale was the son of the late Don and Lorene Scott Virgin. He was a proud 1964 graduate of the former Wurtland High School. A devout member of Wurtland Missionary Baptist Church, Gale served faithfully as a deacon and Sunday school teacher.

Gale had a deep love for fishing and cherished the many trips he took with his family, particularly to Kentucky Lake and Bugs Island Lake in Virginia. He was also an avid sports fan, seldom missing a Greenup County football or basketball game, and always watch UK basketball and football games.

Gale will be remembered for his unwavering faith, dedication to his family, and enthusiasm for fishing and sports. His presence will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years Diana Gayle Carpenter Virgin; one son Todd (Tiffany) Virgin of Greenup Co., Kentucky; one brother Kyle (Lisa) Virgin of Greenup, Kentucky; one sister Connie (Donnie) Crum of Wurtland, Kentucky; three grandchildren Zachary (Heather) Virgin, Payton (Wade) Reed, Sophia Virgin; one great granddaughter Evie Virgin; special mother-in-law Mornie Mae (Allen) Robinson; brother-in-law Bobby (Ellen) Carpenter of Worthington, Kentucky; and two sisters-in-law Treva (Paul) Bates of Danleyton, Kentucky and Johnda (Mark) Bates of Greenup, Kentucky.

Funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 pm on Sunday, August 18, 2024, at Reed Funeral Home in Greenup, Kentucky by Pastor J.R. Gullett and Hayden Hunt. Burial will be in Brick Union Cemetery in Lloyd, Kentucky. Visitation will be from 12:00 pm until service time on Sunday. Condolences may be made at www.rlrfuneralhome.com.
