Sherri Carrol McCarty
Sherri Carrol McCarty, 62, of Argillite, Kentucky went to be with her Savior on Tuesday, January 28, 2025, at her residence surrounded by her loving family and friends. Sherri was born June 28, 1962, in Ironton, Ohio, and a daughter of Connie Jean Stacey Bailey of Russell, Kentucky and the late James Cockrell. In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by one granddaughter Elizabeth Ann Estep.

Sherri was a 1980 graduate of Dawson-Bryant High School in Coal Grove, Ohio. She was a beloved, long-time member of Little Sandy Baptist Church, where she played countless important roles. As a Sunday school teacher, Vacation Bible School volunteer, and organizer of the church's Operation Shoe Box program, Sherri touched the lives of many. Her beautiful voice added to the choir, and her faithful service was a testament to her deep devotion. She gave so much of herself to others and was a true pillar of the church. She was a devout Christian, Sherri lived her life as a faithful servant of God, always striving to glorify Him in all she did. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, and friend, known for her kindness, generosity, and unwavering love for others. Sherri's life was a testament to the power of faith, service, and love, and she will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her. In addition to her service at church, Sherri also worked as secretary for the Greenup Conservation Department for many years, always showing a commitment to her work and her community. Sherri's spirit, love, kindness, generosity, dedication and faith will forever live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.

In addition to her mother, she was survived by her loving husband of 38 years Darrell Wayne McCarty; one son Jesse Dakota (Morgan) McCarty of Argillite, Kentucky; one daughter Anna Danae (Adam) Estep of Greenup, Kentucky; one brother James Russell Cockrell of Argillite, Kentucky; and two cherished grandchildren Benjamin Israel Estep and Ezra Juda Estep.

A celebration of Sherri’s life will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, February 1, 2025, at Little Sandy Baptist Church in Greenup, Kentucky by Pastor Tim Wright. Visitation will be held from 10:00 am until service time.
