Shirley Joyce

Shirley Joyce, 85, went home to a much anticipated reunion on October 7, 2022, at Southern Ohio Medial Center Hospice in Portsmouth, Ohio. Shirley was born July 12, 1937, in Portsmouth, Ohio a daughter of the late Lester and Lillian Williams Henry. She attended Christ’s Community Church in Portsmouth, Ohio. Shirley was generous and quick with a joke, and she considered bingo a contact sport. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Billy Joe Joyce; three sons John Bailey, Paul Bailey, Richard Joyce; daughter Cheryl Austin; three brothers Charles Henry, Lester Henry, Milford Henry; and one sister Virginia Elrod.

She is survived by one son Scott (Dawn) Joyce of Sciotoville, Ohio; one daughter Penny Murta of Wheelersburg, Ohio; eight grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

A celebration of life will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, October 29, 2022, at Christ’s Community Church in Portsmouth, Ohio by Pastor Scott Rawlings. Visitation will be from 1:00 pm until service time at the church. In lieu of flowers, the family has asked for donations to be made to the Sciotoville Community School athletic or band programs in honor of Shirley.
