Tamala “Tammie” Jean Hileman

Tamala “Tammie” Jean Hileman, 66, of Portsmouth, Ohio, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, February 26, 2025, at Riverside Methodist Hospital surrounded by loved ones. She was born on June 22, 1958, in Portsmouth, Ohio, to the late Glenn Light and Betty (Redman) Light.
Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by three brothers Anothony Welty, Thomas Light, and Michael Light; a nephew Jeremy Madden; and loving grandparents Leslee and Nellie Redman and Noah and Ertie Light.
Tammie was a 1978 graduate of Portsmouth High School and worked in retail for many years in Florida before moving back home in 2019. Tammie was an avid Star Wars fan, collector, wearer, and watcher of everything Star Wars. Her apartment was even dubbed “Tammie’s Star Wars Lair” by her great nephew Tyler who posted a YouTube video of it. Anytime you see Tammie out you can guarantee she will be wearing nothing but Star Wars and she could tell you everything about the movies, the characters, or shows. She also loved playing games with her husband and family and loved playing bingo.
She is survived by her high school sweetheart and loving husband, Timothy Hileman, whom she met back up with after many years and married one year ago on February 27, 2024. She is also survived by a son Gary (Beverly) Mershon, a daughter Brittany Mershon; five step sons Andrew Coburn, Floyd Coburn, Adam Hilman, Christopher (Kacee) Hilman, and Nicholas (Jaylyn Meadows) Hileman; two stepdaughters Ashley Coburn and Miranda (Lee) Schoettle; grandchildren Summer Felts, Antonio Coburn, Sandra Mershon, Rhyley Mershon, Abigail Coburn, Silas Coburn, Lydia Mershon, Hayley Coburn, Christopher Mershon, Mylee Hileman, Devon Hileman, Cylas Hileman, Emmalyn Hileman, Samson Hileman, Avery Meadows, and Maddalyn Schoettle; one brother David (Penny) Light; two sisters Davena (Mike) Pennington and Teresa (Steve) Timberlake; and several nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, and great great nieces and nephews. Tammie loved her family dearly and was so proud of all of them.
A memorial service will be held at 1:00 pm on Saturday, March 1, 2025, at Waits Baptist Church (1889 OH-140 Portsmouth, Ohio) with Pastor Brent Saxton officiating. Reed Funeral Home in Greenup, Kentucky has been entrusted with arrangements. Condolences may be made at www.rlfuneralhome.com.
